Our Youth Archery Programs offer a fun and safe introduction to archery for kids and teens. Whether they’re brand new to the sport or building on existing skills, participants will receive expert instruction in a supportive environment.

Intermediate Leveled

Build confidence, focus, and skill — one level at a time.

Our Leveled Youth Archery Program is designed to guide young archers from the basics of bow handling to more advanced marksmanship, all in a supportive and safe environment. Students progress through clearly defined levels, each with its own focus and challenges.

History

The Vegreville Wildlife Federation Archery Program began in 2011, built on the generous support of our local community and a passion for youth and recreational archery.

  • The program was made possible through the sponsorship of local businesses, who provided funding for our initial set of 3D targets. Their support was vital in getting us started.

  • We also received grant funding at launch, allowing us to purchase bows and target backstops to equip participants properly and safely.

  • Today, we welcome 40 to 80 archers each year to our program, ranging from beginners to more advanced participants.

  • Our program emphasizes safety, patience, and skill development in a supportive and structured environment.

  • We proudly follow the Canbow Archery Badge Program, an engaging and progressive curriculum that’s ideal for all skill levels. This program is affiliated with the Alberta Target Archers Association (Alberta Archery).

Competitions & Community Events

  • Each spring (May or June), the VWF Archery Club hosts an annual 3D Archery Shoot at our outdoor range, attracting archers from across the region. Our 8th Annual Shoot was held recently at the VWF Outdoor Gun Range.

  • Our program has a proud history of participation in the Alberta Winter Games:

    • In 2018, six archers tried out — one made the team, and three were named alternates.

    • In 2016, seven archers competed in tryouts — with three successfully making the team.

    • In 2014, one of our archers proudly represented our zone at the Alberta Winter Games.

This continued growth and success are a testament to the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and community supporters. We look forward to many more years of fostering a love of archery in Vegreville and beyond.
