Range Rules

Safety first — for everyone, every time.

At the Vegreville Wildlife Federation, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and well-managed environment for all members and guests who use our gun ranges.

To all users of our outdoor shooting facilities:

We’re proud to welcome you to one of the finest shooting ranges in the province. The Vegreville Wildlife Federation has worked hard to create a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all members and guests.

Our Shared Responsibility

We ask that you take pride in our range and do your part to maintain the high standards we’ve set:

  • Safety is our top priority — always follow posted rules and practice responsible firearm handling.

  • Respect the space — treat our facilities and fellow members with courtesy and care.

  • Leave it better than you found it — please clean up after yourself when you’re finished shooting.

Before You Leave:

  1. Place all used brass in the designated brass disposal containers.

  2. Dispose of all other waste in the garbage bins provided on site.

  3. Take a moment to ensure the area is clean and ready for the next member.

Thank you for doing your part to keep the VWF Range safe, clean, and welcoming.

Enjoy your time on the range,
The VWF Executive Team

 Also

  • Please note that the range may occasionally be closed for scheduled maintenance and other Vegreville Wildlife Federation (VWF) events.

All upcoming closures and club events will be posted as early as possible on our website and on our Facebook page.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to check for updates before visiting the range.

  • To ensure our range remains safe, clean, and enjoyable for all members, the Vegreville Wildlife Federation is committed to regular upkeep and maintenance of the grounds.

This is a community effort — and we rely on the support of our members to help make it possible.

When needed, we organize member work bees to tackle routine tasks such as:

    • Grass cutting

    • Garbage collection

    • General maintenance and small repairs

We take great pride in our facilities, and with your help, we can continue to keep the range in excellent condition for years to come.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our range a welcoming space for everyone.

  • For safety and operational reasons, there may be times when the range entrance gates are overlocked (double-locked). In these cases, a secondary lock and chain are used in a way that prevents access — even if the standard VWF lock is removed.

When the range is overlocked, it means:
No Access. No Entry. No Shooting.

    Why Overlocking Happens:

This measure is taken only when necessary, such as during:

    • Safety concerns

    • Emergency maintenance

    • Special events or closures

    Communication & Signage:

    • Whenever possible, advance notice will be posted on our website and Facebook page.

    • A permanent sign is posted at the gate to indicate when an overlock is in effect.

    • Please note: there may be rare situations when we are unable to update notices in time. Your understanding is appreciated.

We aim to keep these instances to a minimum and thank you for respecting all posted closures.

  • Throughout the year, Vegreville Wildlife Federation (VWF) executive members and volunteers may take photos or videos during VWF-sponsored events and activities.

These images are primarily used for:

    • Group photo albums

    • Celebrating achievements in local newspapers

    • Promotional content on the VWF website and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook)

By participating in VWF events, you acknowledge that you may be included in such photos or videos, which may be used to highlight, celebrate, or promote the mission and activities of the Vegreville Wildlife Federation.

If you have concerns or would prefer not to appear in any photos, please speak with a VWF representative at the event.
