Buck for Wildlife Conservation Site – Vegreville

The Vegreville Wildlife Federation (VWF) is a proud land steward and long-time supporter of the Alberta Conservation Association’s (ACA) “Buck for Wildlife” program, which helps conserve critical habitats throughout Alberta.

About the Vegreville Site:

This 75-acre conservation area is located just west of Vegreville, southeast of Highway 16 and Township Road 524.

  • 30 acres on the east side are hayed annually

  • The remainder is a rich parkland mix of aspen, shrubs, and native grasses

  • A 5-acre wetland on the southern end supports diverse wildlife

  • A viewing shed at the wetland edge provides excellent wildlife observation opportunities

Wildlife & Birdwatching:

The site is home to:

  • Songbirds (warblers, sparrows, finches)

  • Waterfowl (ducks, geese, herons)

  • Small mammals and occasional deer
