Hunters Education Course

Core Topics Covered:

  • Firearm safety and handling

  • Wildlife identification

  • Hunting laws and regulations

  • Ethical hunting practices

  • Conservation and wildlife management

  • Survival and first aid basics

  • Hunter responsibilities and etiquette

Who Needs It:

  • First-time hunters in Alberta are required to complete the Alberta Hunter Education Certification Program before they can purchase a wildlife certificate or hunting licence.

Course Format:

  • Only offered in-person

  • Ends with a multiple-choice exam

  • Upon passing, participants receive a Wildlife Identification Number (WIN) to purchase licences

Program Details

  • Attendance: Participants must attend all four days of the program.
